The Timeline
Offering Fish Lane passers-by a moment to pause and reflect on the history of the site, ‘The Timeline’ tells the story of South Brisbane through the years.
Indigenous and non-Indigenous history is interwoven with poetry by locally based Mununjali poet Ellen van Neerven. Acknowledging the traditional owners of the land and their footprints that lay beneath the art, ‘The Timeline’ lays out significant historical events of South Brisbane from European settlement in 1820 to the opening of Town Square in 2020.
We encourage you to visit ‘The Timeline’ when you’re next on the lane, and take the time to learn about the rich history of the land and the “survival, thrival, and revival” of its traditional owners.
