A brand new craft & design studio has arrived on Fish Lane!

It’s not just the mural-lined walls of Fish Lane Arts Precinct that makes our South Brisbane hub one of the city’s most creative. We are so excited to welcome artisan, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting contemporary craft and design.

For 50 years, artisan has been enriching lives through exhibitions, workshops, public programs, and events. artisan now has an even greater opportunity to connect the Brisbane community with craft and design skills, taught by some of Queensland’s best artists. Housed in the former site of Jojo’s restaurant, artisan will host creative classes in wheel throwing, ceramics, textiles, furniture, and jewellery, with a big emphasis on sustainability.

Beginners wanting to dabble in something creative and more established creatives will both have the opportunity to get involved with classes designed to inspire and educate the local community.

When can we expect classes to start? They already have!

Both short-term and long-term classes as well as workshops series are part of the line-up. Upcoming classes include: learning how to make a Bilum Stitch Scarf with Ranu James on Saturday, August 20, a three-week core jewellery making techniques workshop starting on Saturday, August 27, handbuilding Ceramic Slab Vases on September 22 and so much more. Check out what else is on offer and book into a class here.
