Curious about Patricia Piccinini?

Want to learn more about Patricia Piccinini, the Australia artist currently taking over GOMA right now? Read on!

Patricia Piccinini works in a variety of media including sculpture, installations, digital prints, painting, video and sound. Originally from Melbourne’s Victory College of the Arts, Patricia completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) in 1991 and she has been successful ever since, having received the Artist Award from the Melbourne Art Foundation’s Awards of the Visual Arts in 2014.

Her artworks explore the distinctions between the artificial and the natural through ideas of fiction. Known for her disturbing and hyper-realistic creatures, Patricia’s exhibition Curious Affection has caught Brisbane interest for a good reason.

Patricia has brought her imagination to life in “my Curious Affection” through her interest in the human form and its potential for manipulation. Her extravagant hybrids inspire us to find beauty in a world not ruled by notions of perfection – and we are obsessed!

Finding beauty in these unusual and quite bizarre creatures, Patricia’s work allows us to escape from realism by exploring her notions of perfection, and lets us forget the constant pressure we feel to be perfect in today’s society.

The exhibition is unlike anything you’ve seen before. We’re loving her outrageous artwork, so get amongst it and head on down! The exhibition is showcasing up until August 5th, so find a spare moment in your diary and explore the surrealism her artwork has to offer.

Ticket prices for the exhibition are as shown:
Adults $18
Concession $16
Child $8 (free for children under 5)
