Mother’s Day in Fish Lane: Long Lunches, Good Wine, and Time Well Spent

Mother’s Day in Fish Lane is made for slowing down. We know the annual stress of letting Mother’s Day creep up on you and the relief of making her smile from even the most last-minute of plans. That’s why we’re focusing on settling in, ordering well, and actually spending time together with the women in our lives. Mums deserve some spoiling, and we’d love to be your first choice.

Set in the heart of South Brisbane, Fish Lane also sits on the doorstep of Queensland Art Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, and the Queensland Museum, making it an easy choice to build a full day around. Start with a wander through the galleries or exhibitions, then move to a table where everything is taken care of.

Here’s what we’ve got going on so far:

Chu The Phat

For those who like their celebrations vibrant and full of flavour, Chu The Phat is hosting its Super Mum Day, a banquet-style experience designed to share, paired with a two-hour drinks package (for the fun mums).

At $88 per person, it’s a generous and easy option for big families that just can’t decide what they want to eat. Expect bold Asian-inspired dishes, plenty happening across the table, and an atmosphere that feels like a proper celebration of the matriarch of the family.

Marlowe

If your version of Mother’s Day is a proper Sunday lunch, Marlowe delivers a more classic take. Set within their classic heritage Art Deco space, this is about white tablecloths, considered service, and a share-style menu Mum’s going to be very impressed by (extra brownie points go to the child who books!)

Chef Ollie Hansford’s menu has been designed to remove the need to choose, so ready those Mother’s Day cards and long overdue catch-ups as the entrées, mains and desserts arrive in rhythm. It’s refined without being stiff, and exactly the kind of place where the table doesn’t want to leave long after the dessert bowls have been scraped clean.

Southside

For something relaxed but still elevated, Southside offers a lush, open space that feels like an escape from the city, while being right in its heart.

This Mother’s Day, they’ll be pouring Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut for $20 a glass alongside their signature menu, plus two exclusive dumplings for the day. Expect pork and truffle pumpkin, and a Nutella custard Snow Mountain Bun to finish. Whether you opt for Yum Cha, a banquet or à la carte, it is an easy and mum-pleasing way to spend the day.

Plan Ahead

The list may be small now, but it will grow. Fish Lane has a way of filling up quickly on days like this, and the best tables are always the ones booked early.

If you are planning to spend the day together properly, this is your sign to lock something in and also keep checking back as more Mother’s Day options are released across the lane.
