Curiouser and Curiouser
Thanks to both Patricia Piccinini’s Curious Affection exhibition making waves at GOMA and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time playing at QPAC, we’ve been thinking… what other mysterious food and art curiosities are hiding in and around our little lane?
We know your curious Brisbane, and this year’s cold winter gives you the perfect excuse to don a trench coat and get searching. So, grab your friends and head into detective mode – there’s an abundance of things in Fish Lane just waiting to be discovered.
What better place to start your curious adventure than at The Unknown? Who created this mural? What does it mean? Can you step into The Unknown, does it even exist? While our other blog might be able to give a few pointers, the best way to solve this mystery is to go visit it yourself.
If it’s an enigma you’re after, hole-in-the-wall cocktail bar Maker is one of Fish Lane’s best-kept secrets. Not only does this place have a drinks menu full of unnamed wonders and the perfect mood lighting for top-secret meetings, their ability to customise any and all drinks means this deluxe bar will always keep you guessing.
Seekers will fall in love with Bao Ho’s Nice to Meet You Again, which stands guard on the corner of Melbourne Street and Fish Lane. The perfect mix between ‘Blue Clues’ and ‘Where’s Wally,’ this aquatic-theme piece is made up of a multitude of little ones. A dragon, a fish house, and a turtle island all in one piece… intriguing no?
And wait, what’s this? $1 Wings at Big Roddy’s Rippin’ Rib Shack on Wednesdays? This sounds too good to be true detectives… I think you’ll have to go eat… I mean ‘investigate’ this meal deal next time the middle of the week rolls around.
It’s time to get meddling kids – now more than ever is the ideal time to go explore Fish Lane.
