Enjoy a Night at the Opera with Tosca

Prepare to see Fish Lane flooded with theatregoers, and the seats of QPAC filled to the brim, as one of the world’s most popular operas arrives on June 13.

Tosca is a powerful opera dominated by strong soprano female voices and is set to explore grand themes of human spirit and equality against the backdrop of thrilling music composed by Maestro Giacomo Puccini.

For those unfamiliar with the story, let us shed a light! Tosca is named after its titular character, an Italian woman in love who must fight the Chief of Police, Scarpia, as well as defeat other obstacles in order to be reunited with her lover Cavaradossi… but at a terrible cost.

This 119-year-old play is given new life with renowned opera singers Rachelle Durkin, Angus Wood, and José Carbó filling the much sought-after roles of Tosca, Cavaradossi, and Scarpia respectively.

While the opera is all about the heavy cost of love and betrayal, the pre-show talks for each performance of Tosca at QPAC will be free! Be sure to head in during the hour prior to a performance (exempting those on June 13 and June 20) to discuss the opera in depth with its actors and composers right there in QPAC.

Before you feast your eyes on the wonders this opera has to offers, be sure to feast at one of the beautiful restaurants that grace Fish Lane. Whether it’s a delicious vegetarian dish or short and sweet dessert you require, our dining precinct can provide.

As for those who can’t wait until the dramatic opera hits QPAC on Saturday, rest assured you can still find plenty of entertainment when traversing the paths of Fish Lane!

Lights, camera, action! Tosca will be playing at QPAC June 13-22.
