Keep the kids busy with Island Fashion at QAGOMA
If you’re looking for a creative and imaginative way to keep the little ones busy these school holidays, QAGOMA’s Island Fashion exhibition is the answer!
Visit the Children’s Art Centre to explore fashion and adornment through fun hands-on and multimedia activities for kids of all ages. With a focus on designs from Australia and the Pacific, leading artists Grace Lillian Lee, Letila Mitchell, Maryann Talia Pau and Ranu James have crafted pieces and interactive activities designed for curious young minds.
Grace Lillian Lee’s activity ‘Get Your Weave On’ helps small hands learn simple folding techniques to create wearable accessories, before Maryann Talia Pau and Ranu James show kids how to create another wearable accessory – either a neckpiece, wristband or anklet – using exciting pattern and weaving elements. Kids can design their own digital outfit using patterns by Letia Mitchell, and can even send their outfits to the runway with the push of a button when designs are complete!
The Island Fashion exhibition is at Children’s Art Centre, QAGOMA until 15 March 2020, and is a free and interactive experience for curious kids of all ages.
