Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra comes to Fish Lane
Ahead of Sisters, the thrilling new concert of their 2019 season, the Helpmann Award-nominated Camerata (the Queensland Chamber Orchestra) will be stringing their bows and stretching their fingers at a series of rehearsals right here on Fish Lane!
In the 49 Melbourne Street space formerly occupied by 12 Round Fitness, all 18 ensemble members (in addition to internationally-acclaimed sisters Monica and Sarah Curro) will be rehearsing for the concert.
As part of the program, passersby will be treated to Bach’s “Concerto for two violins”, a new piece by Toowoomba-based composer Richard Mills, Schoenberg’s “Transfigured Night” (a trademark performance by the ensemble), plus a mystery segment revealed only on the night!
Performing the concert in QPAC’s Concert Hall on Thursday, August 29, Camerata’s ensemble will support and entwine with the musical expertise of the Curro sisters, both of whom are violinists and current full-time members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
With their reputation for cutting-edge collaborations, adventurous programming, and creative independence (the group performs without a conductor), Sisters is sure to be another awe-inspiring performance by Queensland’s top string instrumentalists.
