OFRENDA 2026: Amor y Memoria
This October, Fish Lane will become part of OFRENDA 2026: Amor y Memoria, a vibrant celebration of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) bringing Mexican art, culture and community to Brisbane.

Taking place across Fish Lane Arts Precinct, QPAC’s Melbourne Street Green and Merivale Studios, OFRENDA brings together visual art, storytelling, music, performance, workshops and traditional cuisine, all centred around an ofrenda, an altar created to honour and remember loved ones who have passed.
This year’s theme, Amor y Memoria (Love and Memory), explores the ways love and memory keep connections alive, bringing together ancestral traditions and contemporary Mexican artistic practices.

Things kick off at Fish Lane on Friday 30 October from 7:30pm, with a Day of the Dead procession, mariachi music, mezcal tastings and dancing. Then on Saturday 31 October, the celebrations continue with an ofrenda at the centre of the festivities, alongside traditional food, margaritas, music, markets, workshops and more.
OFRENDA is a chance for Brisbane/Meanjin’s Mexican community to come together around tradition, while inviting the wider community to experience Día de Muertos as a vibrant, living celebration of culture and identity.
Come for the music, stay for the food and take a moment to discover the stories, traditions and memories at the heart of the celebration.
OFRENDA 2026: Amor y Memoria is presented by Contempo Arts Collective and BEMAC, in collaboration with the Meanjin Mexican Community, with support from Explore Fish Lane, QPAC and Merivale Studios.
