Spring flavours on Fish Lane
Fish Lane is in full spring swing, so here’s our pick of the freshest spring flavours along the lane.
Wandering Cooks
With a great bar and array of casual indoor/outdoor seating areas, this foodie hub is the perfect spot to experience fresh, seasonal flavours. The rotating list of makers at Wandering Cooks means every visit is different; for tasty spring specials we love Aburi Boi Street Food’s sustainably sourced prawns, served with Cambodian dipping sauce and fresh salad, and Rani’s Cuisine’s Mauritian rougaille – soft eggs baked in spicy tomato sauce and served with paratha flatbread.
Julius
Dishing up top-notch, classic Italian with a seasonal focus, Julius is a great restaurant to enjoy the best flavours that spring has to offer. The kingfish carpaccio with blood orange and fennel, and pan-seared duck with Brussels sprouts and pancetta are two prime examples of their quality Italian with an Aussie spring twist.
Ol’ School
So much more than fish ’n’ chips (though they do make some of the best in town), Ol’ School are serving up some seriously spring-y bites. There’s pea and potato croquettes with ranch dressing, buffalo mozzarella with sour truffle honey and hazelnut, and fresh and zesty fish tacos! The open-plan styling of Ol’ School is perfect for a spring lunch in the sunshine.
Gauge
For a unique foodie experience in a prime contemporary setting, you can’t look past Gauge! With a strong focus on all things seasonal, their menu features unexpectedly delightful combinations of premium ingredients. This season we’re loving the sourdough waffle with rhubarb, liquorice ricotta, yuzu, and yoghurt sorbet from the brunch menu, and the cauliflower with fermented chilli and fried shrimp at dinner time!
Billykart
At the very top end of Fish Lane lies Billykart, the food baby of celebrity chef Ben O’Donoghue. One of their long-term menu favourites, the crispy corn fritters with guacamole, chilli, and basil is a spring must-try! Keep the spring flavours rolling with Peruvian-style spit toasted 1/2 chicken with red pepper and coriander sauce.
Stretch your legs with a stroll along Fish Lane this spring, and see what delicious seasonal flavours you encounter along the way!
