BIFF returns to Brisbane in 2018
It’s back! Brisbane International Film Festival returns to screens across the city from Thursday, October 11 to Sunday, October 21. Showcasing a range of international and Australian-made new releases, offbeat art pieces, and cult classics, BIFF is a cultural festival with something for everyone.
Whether you’re catching a flick at GOMA’s Cinémathèque, the Convention Centre, or State Library, Fish Lane is the place to grab a pre- or post-show nibble that’s a step up from the usual popcorn and Malteasers.
A major highlight of the BIFF program in 2018 includes a screening of Ben Hackworth’s new film Celeste, a moody exploration following an opera singer’s comeback performance in far north Queensland. The screening, on Saturday, October 20, will be followed by a dinner inspired by the events and settings of the film, devised by GOMA Restaurant Head Chef Doug Innes-Will.
If you aren’t lucky enough to nab a spot at the one-off event, Fish Lane has a range of delicious contemporary options for around-the-clock dining before or after your film. Enjoy an Asian feast at Hello Please, share a pizza and antipasti at Julius Pizzeria, cheers with a post-panel discussion cocktail at Maker, or continue the saga with a Sunday dego at La Lune Wine Co.
