Fish Lane is your go-to spot for dining before and after visiting Brisbane Writers Festival

No matter the time of day, or what you’re craving, we’ve got something for you!

Brisbane Writers Festival will be running from May 30 – June 2 and is bringing a diverse and exciting lineup of events that is guaranteed to thrill both writers and readers. Each year, the festival welcomes thousands of people to engage in discussions and celebrate all things books and writing.

Here at Fish Lane, we’re especially excited about Brisbane Writers Festival, because it’s happening right on our doorstep. We’re just a short walk away from two of the festival’s main venues, State Library of Queensland, and QPAC – and we are ready to cater for all your dining needs so that you can make a day (or night) out of your show.

If you’re catching a day time show we recommend hitting up Saccharomyces for some bites and a brew. With plenty of beers on rotation, and a pretty awesome wine and spirit list, Saccharomyces has got pretty much any pre or post show drink you could ask for. Or, if you’re after something a bit more brunchy, Lisboa Caffé has a delicious range of sweet and savory snacks (if you haven’t tried their famous Portuguese custard tarts, you’re missing out).

For those hitting a show after dark, we suggest visiting our friends at Southside or Midtown. Southside’s leafy green urban oasis is the perfect atmosphere for pre-show drinks and bites, with dinner from 5pm. On the other hand, Midtown serves up some of Brisbane’s best seafood and martinis, and they’re open until late for the night owls that want to keep the fun going post-show.
