Fish Lane is Startin’ Somethin’: MJ the Musical is Here!

When MJ the Musical arrives at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Fish Lane does what it does best: turns the moment into an experience.

To celebrate the show’s run, some of Fish Lane’s favourite venues are pouring limited-edition cocktails inspired by the music, movement and unmistakable energy of MJ the Musical. Whether you’re heading to the theatre, planning a pre-show dinner, or lingering after the curtain call, the cocktails our venues have in store for you on Fish Lane are the perfect excuse to make a night of it.

Here’s what’s on the menu.

Southside’s Midnight Bellini

At Southside, the Midnight Bellini is all about celebratory sparkle.

Prosecco meets peach liqueur and purée for a fresh, fruit-forward take on the classic Bellini. Light, bright and gently effervescent, it’s the kind of drink that feels instantly festive… perfect for kicking off an evening on Fish Lane before the lights dim at QPAC.

Midtown Bar’s Red Jacket Martini

At Midtown Bar, the Red Jacket Martini leans into indulgence.

Emperor chocolate vodka meets Luxardo maraschino cherry liqueur and Carpano Antica Formula vermouth for a cocktail that’s smooth, decadent and slightly bittersweet. The result is a martini with a nostalgic, after-dark edge; one that feels right at home in the glow of a late-night bar.

Maeve Wine’s Golden Mic

At Maeve Wine, the Golden Mic brings the energy.

Pineapple and yuzu deliver a burst of citrusy brightness, balanced with tequila for a punchy, tropical sip that feels lively and full of groove. It’s playful, vibrant and just the right amount of bold… a cocktail made for the buzz of a theatre night out.

Marlowe’s Encore Espresso

At Marlowe, things turn darker and more decadent with The Encore Espresso.

Bourbon and cognac form the backbone, joined by coffee liqueur and softened with Licor 43 for a smooth, layered cocktail that feels bold, warming and quietly luxurious. It’s refined, it’s mysterious, and it’s a little bit slick.

Hello Please’s White Glove

At Hello Please, the White Glove is all about balance.

Cocchi Americano and elderflower liqueur meet pink grapefruit and soda for a light, bittersweet cocktail that’s crisp and refreshing. It’s rhythmic and easy-drinking, the sort of sip made for lingering conversations and smooth moves.

Chu The Phat’s Fedora Fizz

At Chu The Phat, the Fedora Fizz is bright, expressive and made for good times.

Gin, triple sec and lemon juice bring the citrus backbone, while hibiscus adds colour and floral lift. Finished with sparkling wine and soda, it’s a crisp, upbeat fizz that feels lively from the first sip to the last.

Bar Brutus’s Headliner

At Bar Brutus, the Headliner lives up to its name.

Amaro Montenegro provides a bittersweet base, lifted with grapefruit and yuzu for a bold, citrus-driven cocktail that finishes clean and sharp. It’s confident, punchy and built to stand out, just like a true headliner should.

Make a Night of It

From sparkling Bellinis to bold nightcaps, Fish Lane’s MJ the Musical cocktails are designed to be savoured before or after curtain call, adding a bit of theatre to your night *at* the theatre!

Start with dinner, stop in for a pre-show drink, or try a few along Fish Lane after the final bows. With MJ the Musical lighting up Queensland Performing Arts Centre, there’s never been a better time to spend an evening on Fish Lane. Cheers to that!
