BrisAsia Festival is set to take over Fish Lane in 2024
BrisAsia Festival is one of Brisbane’s premier events for cultural placemaking, creative and artistic innovation and community wellbeing and we are so excited to be kicking off the three-week-long festivities with two events in Fish Lane!
Supporting our next generation of creatives, the festival forges meaningful creative partnerships with industry stakeholders, emerging artists and experienced professionals, helping to drive cultural change, ignite creative and economic innovation and build bridges between the local economy and the creative sector to support our future social, cultural and economic wellbeing.
Lush in Fish Lane
Celebrate Lunar New Year and the Year of the dragon as we open the festival with ‘Lush’ in Fish Lane. An exciting new addition to the program in 2024, Lush is an Asian street festival that will take over the laneway on Saturday, February 3. Devour flavours from our very own Chu the Phat and Southside as well as the new kid on the block, Bird’s Nest and enjoy captivating performances such as a break dance battle featuring competitors from BrisAsia Dance, roving street performances by the Moon Ensemble and live music from both traditional and contemporary artists. This event is entirely free to attend and is family-friendly, so be sure to pencil it in your calendars!
Handmade – A dumpling Festival by Southside
PSA to all the dumpling lovers: these delights might be small but they’re certainly worth celebrating. And as champions of these humble but masterfully made morsels, it is no wonder Southside Restaurant will be at the helm of our second event, Handmade Dumpling Festival, on Sunday, February 4. Expect to try everything from Har Gow to Gyoza, with an extensive menu of classics alongside signature Southside dishes available including the Lobster & Chive Har Gow with Smoked Salmon Caviar and their Wagyu Xiao Long Bao with Madeira & Pickled Ginger. We’ll also have a smattering of Dim Sum favourites available (including Southside’s sought after Truffle Prawn Toast!). $25 gets you entry into the one day event as well as a three-dumpling testing steamer to enjoy on arrival.
